AMGEN GRANT PARTNERSHIP

Through the continuing efforts of our Learn to Live Initiative, Brother McMikle was instrumental in securing a $20,000 grant opportunity for Kappa Alpha Psi through the Amgen Corporation to fund youth programming in the Southern California geographical area, specifically tied to work in the social justice arena.  Jimmy wrote and submitted the grant application tying in the Southern California Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (N.O.B.L.E.) as a programming partner for the grant.  The awarded grant dollars will be used to 1. Create a virtual online platform for the Learn 2 Live initiative, 2. Film live re-enactment scenarios of police encounters with our partner law enforcement agencies.  3. Fund a live youth programming event in the Los Angeles, California area in conjunction with the Southern California Chapter of NOBLE.

Amgen is one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies; a values-based company, deeply rooted in science and innovation to transform new ideas and discoveries into medicines for patients with serious illnesses.  The Amgen Foundation seeks to improve access and advance excellence in science education to inspire the next generation of innovators, as well as invest in strengthening communities where Amgen staff members live and work.
